The artist starts with a blank canvas – silence. The composer places it between and behind the notes. The very ground of your being, out of which comes all your thoughts, is silence. The way to silence is through meditation. When you arrive in your own silence you will know true freedom and real power. Stop, take a minute, and listen to the silence within you today. That Relax7.com quote is very interesting. Almost as if it is saying that we are at our most creative when we have inner peace. Perhaps there is something to that.
Bamboo Forest – PunIntendeds last blog post..Clowns are Downright Creepy
Hi Bamboo: That’s one of my favorites from the 75. I definitely feel that I’m more productive and creative when I feel calm. When I’m upset for any reason I have trouble concentrating (which is why I use the Sedona Method and EFT).
Awesome collection of quotes.
Well done. Yes the Sedona Method is good and even better when used in conjunction with Holosync!
Best Wishes
Ribbons last blog post..Tips, hints, Clues, ideas for Bloggers
Hi Mare,
I love quotes! So, I’m all over this one!
One (of several) that jumped out at me:
13. “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.” — Henry Ward Beecher
When we do this, really do this – dipping our brush within our soul – the picture we paint is one of true beauty, of creativity alive, of our true being. To get to that place, what a great place to be!
I love this list Mare! So much inspiration all on one page!
Beautiful list Mare! You are one dedicated, passionate and creative blogger. This was my favourite… “You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.” — Maya Angelou
It gives additional meaning to “the cup is half full.”
Davinas last blog post..This Is Me, Then and Now
Love these quotes! My favorite is “You can’t wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club.” — Jack London
We have to take action and make our dreams come true. If all we do is contemplate great ideas nothing will get done.
Karl Staib – Your Work Happiness Matterss last blog post..Why Your Company Should Give Motivational Booster Sessions
Like Lance, I love quotes, too. As I scrolled the list #3 and #59 resonated. A perfect list when I need some creative inspiration!
Ah quotes, me likey. That’s one for the bookmarks, Mare. Thanks!
Writer Dads last blog post..Reading Online, Chew Before You Swallow
Hi Mare,
I liked so many of these quotes. The one that hit me was Goethe on moving forward in a chess game – I just played chess today and decided to attack rather than defend. After a few moves, I made a move that was meant to continue the offensive, and then we both realised that it was a checkmate. So it really is true – when you dare to try, you may lose but you may win big.
Great collection of quotes here!
Daphnes last blog post..How Does Your Life Script Read?
Hoo-hah! What a list!
I loved Theodore Levitt’s “Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things.”
I think [LOL] I am more doer than thinker
Alik Levin | PracticeThis.coms last blog post..Program Yourself For Extremely Fast Performance
Hi Ribbon: I also use Holosync, it’s fabulous.
Hi Lance: I think that quote is closely related to Martha Grahams’ quote that there is only one of us in all time and our expression is unique. It’s when we express this uniqueness and share it with others that we’re able to do great things.
Hi Davina: It’s like when you let someone light their candle from your candle, your fire isn’t diminished in any way.
Hi Karl: That’s what Twyla Tharp keeps saying: it’s about hard work. Yes, there will be aha moments, but those are always preceded by periods of intense concentration on your craft.
Hi Stacey: A large part of creativity is related to being able to follow your own judgment even when others try to dissuade you, and not being afraid to make mistakes.
Hi Sean: Glad you liked it
Hi Daphne: Well good for you! I know how to play chess but I rarely do. It’s one of the things–like playing tennis–that I want to start doing more often.
Hi Alik: Anyone can have an idea, but the real merit goes to those who have an idea and then turn that idea into reality
My favorite is “You can’t wait for inspiration, you have to go after it with a club.” I love the idea that one can actively pursue creativity and inspiration.
Vered – MomGrinds last blog post..Breaking: Cosmo Magazine To Change Its Name
This list is a joy to read! I have bookmarked it to share with all of the students. Thank you! G.
Grace Kleppins last blog post..Day 1 of going car-less
Hi Mare,
Love the list and will come back to it often. I love number 60 for it is exactly what I am doing at the moment. Filling each day with a little creativity.
Thanks for the list.
Mimi
Mindful MImis last blog post..Imagination needs moodling – long, inefficient, happy idling, dawdling and puttering – Brenda Ueland
Hi Vered: There’s another quote that says that you have to grab it by the horns. I like the idea that creativity is something that can be learned and not a talent given only to a select few.
Hi Grace: You’re very welcome, I’m glad that you enjoyed it
Hi Mimi: That’s also part of creativity: rearranging the furniture, arranging flowers in a vase, setting the table in a pleasing manner, and so on. Creativity is something we can bring to everything we do
Thank you very much for sharing these wonderful quotes on simplicity.
We NEED so much simplicity in this world of us! I’m in love with simplicity. The prove: I rarely watch TV (I prefer my DVDs), I don’t pay too much attention to news (but I am willing to help other people, if I can). But it is true that I overcomplicate things other times: I read many books, blogs (and I myself run a lot of blogs…). So I appreciate these quotes and obviously (with your permission) I’am going to print them and reflect about what they say.
Thank you for the work involved in collecting these great quotes. Thank you for your generosity.
I am going immediately to add your blog as a link in a list of great motivational blogs.

Thank you, Mare,

Juan Bielsas last blog post..My shop on zazzle.com
I have always loved the J.F.K quote: “A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on” as I find it so inspirational on many levels, not just for creativity. It’s also explaining why it is important to stand for something; that your integrity and vision has value beyond your mortal life.
I am also a big fan of Alice in Wonderland, so love the quote about believing impossible things. And the quote from relax7.com about the importance of silence. Having kids has definitely made me see that as the truth. It’s near impossible to be creative if you can’t get any peace for yourself.
Great list Mare. thanks.
Kelly
Wow, what a fantastic collection! I really get inspired by great quotes, have bookmarked this page. Cheers!
Rosss last blog post..What’s this blog about, anyway?
Another great post – looking forward to what the rest of the week brings!
Christophers last blog post..Passage – A Video Game with Soul
I love your site for its emphasis on creativity. I’ve always like the idea of bringing more art into my life. I’ve tried almost all kinds of craft, from pottery to painting. At one stage, I was also selling costume jewelry. As you can tell, I’m into blogging and photography now!!! Hopefully, my latest passions will last a loooong time!!
Evelyn Lims last blog post..HAVE-DO-BE or BE-DO-HAVE?
Hi Juan, of course, please print them. Thank you for including me on your list of motivational blogs, I stopped by your blog and left a comment.
Hi Kelly: I agree that JFK’s quote is also about standing up for important causes you believe in. There’s another quote that basically says that there is nothing better than watching someone who’s saying that something is impossible be interrupted by someone doing the supposedly impossible deed
Hi Ross: I love inspirational quotes too.
Hi Christopher: I’m going to have enough material for my resource section by the end of this week
Hi Evelyn: I didn’t know your crafts included custom jewelry. I do know about your blogging and photography passions
“The creative person is willing to live with ambiguity. He doesn’t need problems solved immediately and can afford to wait for the right ideas.” — Abe Tannenbaum — love this quote. I remembered the time when I was doing a domain name search and the keywords are very ambiguous . After all, it was just a matter of being creative. Just like Tannenbaum said, we can afford to wait for the right ideas.
Good collection Meri!!!
