It would have been a better story if she had a great time in New York and wrote the book. However, she's responsible now and has written several great books, does workshops, and so on. And yes, you had to put money into so that it would give you gum. Mostly it was just me putting in the coin, taking the gum, and then taking the coin back out to reuse it later.
