On “Inspiration Sunday” I share with you poems, stories, or quotes that I find inspirational and that I hope you’ll find inspirational as well. Below you will find a quote by Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe. This quote is meant to inspire you to take action:

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans.

The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”

    I love this series of yours. It makes us think and grow. Hearing quotes from the greats is so inspirational and motivational. Can we ever get enough? I don't think so!

    @Hunter: If you wait for everything to be just right before you start acting, you'll probably never get started. However, if you simply get up and start moving in the direction of what you want, all of a sudden what you need to continue on your path starts moving toward you. That's what I think Goethe is saying here, and I agree with you that it sounds like the Law of Attraction.

    This has been etched in my mind ever since I first heard it as a kid. I had never seen the rest of it. It sounds like he's talking about the law of attraction.

    @Bamboo: I find it really inspirational as well. When you act you set in motion a lot more than you know.

    @Lance: I'm glad you made the decision to start blogging. It was the same way for me when I started.
  • This is a great quote. I actually had to read it twice, and really concentrate on it.

    Actually what is stated in this quote is how I feel about when I started blogging. I had toyed with the idea, but that was it, for several months. One day I finally said to myself - I'm gonna try this. And like Goethe said so well,

    "...The moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred...."

    This I now believe. And it believing this on one level (blogging) I also believe it can happen in other areas of my life too.

    @Sara: Thank you. Goethe has another quote that says: "Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid."
